Frequently asked questions about greenhouses from KGT
Preparation and setup
Allow sufficient time for assembly. As a rule, you will need one to two days. Two to three people are ideal.
We also recommend:
read the assembly instructions completely
sort all components of an assembly in advance
Allow sufficient space around the installation site
No. The foundation frame is assembled step by step directly during the construction of the greenhouse and is not dug in beforehand.
The individual foundation frame profiles are each connected to the matching components such as gables or side walls.
Important to know:
For technical reasons, the foundation frame profiles are slightly shorter than the floor profiles of the greenhouse.
Many profiles look similar, but differ in length. That’s why we recommend
Sort profiles by module, for example gable, side walls, roof
Compare cross-sections and lengths with measuring tape and instructions
Windows and door profiles are usually packaged separately and already bundled as a module, except for certain models.
Yes, for example with the Rhodo model.
This is important:
curved edge and side rungs inserted the right way round
the slits and holes must face upwards
Align the side rungs with the edge rungs before inserting them
Assembly is always carried out step by step according to the instructions.
Typical sequence:
Skylight
Top and bottom door
Rear wall window
Rear wall gable
Front gable
Eaves sides/final assembly

Choosing the right greenhouse
A greenhouse makes it possible:
Gardening regardless of the weather
Extended cultivation times
Better control of temperature, humidity and soil
Protection against pests and weeds
Cultivation of a greater variety of plants than in the open field
First think about how you want to use the greenhouse:
Growing vegetables and plants
Overwintering potted plants
Use as a protected garden space
Also pay attention to:Sturdy aluminum construction
High-quality workmanship
Suitable glazing
Sufficient ventilation options
A greenhouse is a long-term purchase and should be able to withstand storms and snow.
This usually depends on the size of the greenhouse and can vary from municipality to municipality. You should therefore ask your local building authority whether planning permission is required.
We will be happy to provide you with the necessary information and help you with the application.
It is important to have as much light as possible.
A north-south orientation of the gable ends is common, but not absolutely necessary. Every property is individual.
Our recommendation:
A bright, preferably semi-shady spot in the garden.
Glazing and equipment
We generally recommend:
ISO twin-wall sheets made of polycarbonate or
Toughened safety glass
Twin-wall sheets are particularly suitable for:
Cultivation
Wintering
Good insulation
Safety glass is ideal if the greenhouse is also used as a garden room and a clear view is desired.
Inside the cylinder is an oil-wax mixture that reacts to temperature.
The window opens automatically from around 15 to 16 degrees Celsius.
Important:
In winter, the impression cylinder must be stored frost-free
The mixture loses its function in frost
Yes, with the exception of the foundation frame, which must be fitted directly during assembly.
All other accessories can be retrofitted without any problems.
Depending on use, we recommend
Tables, shelves and planters
Shading blinds for real glass
Heating systems for the winter
Plant lamps with low light, only suitable for damp rooms
Note:
No greenhouse remains frost-free in winter without heating.
Care, use and tips
Basically you should:
Clean regularly
Check temperature and humidity
Watch out for pests and diseases
For cleaning:
Use only water or mild soapy water
No acids or vinegar, as these can attack the UV coating
Very suitable are for example:
Tomatoes
Paprika
Cucumbers
Salads
Herbs such as basil, rosemary or thyme
Good ventilation is crucial to prevent overheating and plant rot.
Recommended are:
Skylight, ideally with automatic opener
Divided doors
Additional rear wall window
